We’re Alto Locksmith & Security
Nice to Meet You, Hopefully Not Because You’re Locked Out

A few years back, we kept hearing the same thing from New Yorkers, over and over: “I called a locksmith, and it was a nightmare.” A price quoted on the phone that magically tripled at the door. A perfectly good lock was drilled to pieces when it didn’t need to be. That feeling of being taken advantage of on your worst day.
We thought it really shouldn’t be this hard to find an honest locksmith.
So in 2023, we made it official and started Alto Locksmith & Security. We’re newer than some of the old locksmiths in NYC, and we’re fine with that. It means we get to do this the right way from day one, without any bad habits to unlearn.

What We Promise You
Want to know the difference between us and someone who made you think locksmiths are scammers only? Lets clear your misconceptions:
A good lock is still the simplest thing standing between you and a very bad day.

Okay, But Are You Legit?
Fair question. You should be asking it of every locksmith. Here’s our answer.
New York City is actually one of the strictest places in the country for this. To legally work on locks here, a locksmith has to pass a background check, get fingerprinted, and prove they know the trade, all through the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.
It’s not a title you can just print on a van. We’re licensed and insured, the way it should be.
New Yorkers have left us a 5-star rating across 300+ Google reviews. A lot of them mention the same thing: we showed up fast, often in 10 to 25 minutes, and didn’t make a mess of it.
Meet the Person Behind the Locks
You’re not calling a faceless hotline. When you reach Alto Locksmith & Security, you’re reaching Nate Altit, the owner, and the team he personally trains.
Nimrod Altit
Owner & Lead Locksmith, Alto Locksmith & Security
Nimrod started Alto back in 2023 with one simple idea: treat people’s homes and businesses the way he’d want his own treated.
Honest prices, no drilling when it isn’t needed, and someone who picks up the phone.
He’s spent more than 10 years working hands-on with NYC locks, from stubborn pre-war apartment doors to the newest smart locks, and every technician who wears the Alto Locksmith & Security name learns the trade his way.

Wherever You Are, We’re Probably the Closest Locksmith Near You
We cover all five boroughs, from Manhattan, the Upper East Side to Harlem, SoHo to the East Village, over to Park Slope, Williamsburg, and DUMBO in Brooklyn, out to Astoria and Long Island City in Queens, plus the Bronx and Staten Island. Wherever you’re standing right now, there’s a good chance one of our locksmith crew isn’t that far. Here’s the full list of neighborhoods we serve.

A Few Things People Always Ask
Will you wreck my lock to get me in?
Almost never. We pick and finesse first. Drilling only happens when a lock truly can’t be opened any other way.
How fast can you really get here?
Our locksmith van runs 24/7, and most folks across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens see us in about 10 to 25 minutes.
Do I need to prove it’s my place?
Yep, and that’s a good thing. We’ll ask for ID or proof that you live or work there before we let you in. It’s how we keep the wrong people out.

So, Need a Hand?
Whether you’re locked out right this second, moving into a new place and want those locks changed, or just want to sleep a little easier, we’re one call away.
